Registrar: JAMB records highest infraction in Edo

Edo State recorded the highest level of infraction in 2024 Unified Territory Examinations conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB Examinations nationwide.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede dropped the hint during an interview on Tuesday NTA breakfast programme, tagged, ‘Good morning Nigeria’.

He said Edo overtook Anambra and Abia State — the 2023 record holder in JAMB malpractice.

Prof. Oloyede stated that the Board has begun investigation into the malpractices and would take drastic action against Computer Based Test, CBT Centres that were found wanting.

“Abia was the highest in terms of infraction last year. But, this year, majority of them are from Edo”, according to him, “Edo has the highest level of infraction. And we are going to take drastic action against them”.

He lamented that about 500 privately- owned CBT Centres nationwide were involved in most of the malpractices, noting that the Board had sacked some staff for misconduct.

The Registrar said the Board has released 531 Candidates results that were initially withheld after extensive investigation, while over 57,000 JAMB Candidates results are still being investigated.

Prof. Oloyede, accused some parents of colluding with CBT operators to undermine the integrity of 2024 JAMB, Examinations which he scored 90 per cent pass mark.

“More than 2-3 African Countries including one outside Africa, has come to understudy JAMB in Nigeria.

“This is the first time that we have had more female Candidates who enrolled for JAMB for a long time. Yes, it’s good.
But, it also has its own drawback.

“Some of the boys will end up in the hands of the boys that are not trained. That is why we also take time to talk about the boy Child Education”, Prof. Oloyede said.

He further assured that more Candidates results would be released as soon as investigation is completed by JAMB.
