Priests lay curse on burglars of police station

Some Benin Priests, comprising Ayelala and Sango have invoked curses on burglars who burgled into a yet-to-be commissioned police station built through communal effort in Ugbineh village, Ovia North East Local government Area of Edo State and stole furniture and electrical fittings.

Having performed the necessary traditional rulers, the Priests whose help was sought by elders of the village, where they vehemently lay curse on hoodlums who stole furniture and other valuable from the building.

The adherents of Ayelala and Sango deities who served as the village healer, matched round the village, invoking curses and asked God and ancestors to bear witness after slaughtering animals at strategic locations.

One of the elders in Ugbineh village, Pa. Sunday Iyoha said the criminal act was carried out by criminals ahead of the commissioning of the project, which was met to tackle security crisis in the locality.

Iyoha said, “as we were planning to inaugurate the project, criminals invaded the police station and vandalized equipment in the building, including electrical cables”.

Another elder in the village, Omoruyi Uhunoma, said the elders decision to punish perpetrators of the spate of violence and crime in the area.
