Former governor of Anambra State, Willi Obiano renewed the bond of friendship with businessmen and women when he stormed Onitsha main market, with his wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano who is gunning for the 2023 Anambra North Senatorial District election on the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA on Wednesday.
Leading the campaign team to the most largest market in the West African Sub-Sahara region, Obiano with his better halves, was received the greatest shock of their political experience as traders Chanted difference songs in total rejection of the Candidate and the party.
The traders who were mobilized in their numbers could not even allow the immediate past governor of the State, to address the crowd as different groups of traders chants different songs in their groups and clusters.
But Obiano effortlessly appeal to the traders in view of his good relationship with them while in office to support his wife and APGA.
He promised them that his wife will give the zone quality representation if elected in the upcoming election.
On her part Mrs Obiano, the APGA Candidate in the election, described the traders of Anambra State as an indispensable group in the socio-economic life of the State and no well-meaning government or individual could afford to toy with them in whatever capacity.
She promised quality representation, employment of youths and women and to strengthen her foundation which she has used to touch on a lot of families.
Mrs. Obiano promised to change the political narratives in the zone by ensuring that Anambra traders who holds the keys to import and export within Nigeria and by extension African Sub Sahara would be given their right place in the Committee of nations if elected.
There was however a twist when some traders who spoke to our Correspondent, vowed to reject Mrs Obiano, describing her as undisciplined woman who has no respect for humanity, referencing her insult to the wife of the late Igbo leader Mrs Bianca Ojukkwu,Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu as an unpardonable offence against the Igbo nation.
They also expressed concern over the imposition of multiple taxation by the APGA led government of Anambra State on the traders and promised to mobilize the traders to disgrace the party at the polls.
