Policeman in custody after killing father with rifle

Police operatives have apprehended a police Sergeant, who fatally gun down his father with his rifle behind police headquarters in Maiduguri, Borno State Capital on Sunday.

The trigger-happy Cop identified as Sergeant Sunday Wadzani, undergoing orderly room trial, was said to have committed the alleged crime after a minor misunderstanding with the deceased, who was a retired Policeman.

A document filed on the incident, which was sighted by Daily Trust reads, “A police sergeant by the name Sgt. Sunday Wadzani serving in Borno State command today 21st July 2024 this evening at about 1620hrs shot his father Rtd. Asp Wadzani Ntasiri seven times after a minor feud at Maiduguri”.

TheNewspad inquiry from ASP Kenneth Daso, spokesman of the Nigeria Police Command in Borno State on the involvement of the suspect who was previously attached to the Borno State of House Assembly, is being awaited.
