A politician, Zachary Nmaduka has been shot and beheaded by yet-to-be identified assailants in Ezieke, Akpuka, Uturu in Abia State.
The Community leader also known as Power Zack, was attacked at a drinking spot after he was identified by his murderers who thereafter made away with his head.
Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in the State, ASP Maureen Chinaka who confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, said the 70-year-old man was attacked at a drinking spot in Amelechi Akpukpa Community.
She assured grieving family of the deceased the perpetrators of the crime would be arrested and prosecuted.
The police spokesperson stated that Nmaduka’s body which was recovered by the police, has been deposited in a morgue for preservation.
The statement said, “Upon receiving this distressing information, a joint team comprising police and army personnel was swiftly dispatched to the scene.
“Tragically, they recovered Mr. Nmaduka’s lifeless body.
“Photographic evidence was captured at the scene, and the deceased’s remains were promptly evacuated and deposited at Marist Mortuary Uturu.
“Investigations are currently going on”, SP Chinaka said.
Nmaduka, the social critic and Chieftain of Labour Party (LP) death, has raised serious concern among members of the ruling party in the State.
