Police authorities say it received the N10.3 million in cash from three suspected to be Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network members in Imo State alongside one AK-47 rifle, two pump-action guns, eighteen live cartridges, mobile devices and laptops.
Force Public Relations officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi were nabbed by security operatives in their hideout on Cameron street, Ubahu, in Okigwe LGA on April 17th 2025.
He revealed in a statement the the money is believe to be proceed of kidnapping for ransom
by the criminal gang members identified as 21-year-old, Ugwu Ikenna ‘m’, 31-year-old, and Ofor Kasarachi ‘m’ 37-year-old suspects.
ACP Olumuyiwa stated that police operatives in synergy with local vigilante groups ― acting on credible intelligence and stormed a suspected IPOB/ESN hideout at about 1:02 AM on the fateful day.
The police spokesman said, “On sighting the operatives, the suspected terrorists opened fire, resulting in a gun battle during which three suspects”.
Similarly, police operatives in Edo State Command also rescued 10 students who were on their way to Backcock University for the annual GYC Africa conference on the 16th day of April 2025.
The statement said men of the Command picked up the trail of these kidnappers, and upon encounter, engaged them in a fierce gun duel between the hoodlums and security personnel.
One of the kidnappers was neutralized in the process, while the 10 hostages were rescued unhurt, according to the statement also confirmed the successful rescue of two other hostages who were allegedly kidnapped on the 14th of April 2025, at their residence in Oluoke Community of the State.
