Nigeria Police Command in Ogun State has lamented over an unprecedented increase in reports of missing individuals across all age groups in the State.
Command’s spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola said this on Tuesday in a statement where she shared security tips with members of the public on how to stop the trend.
The police image maker said the Command has rescued a handful of missing persons compared to the number of missing persons, which is on the ascendancy in the State.
But the police spokesperson did not provide data of missing persons and locations as of January 2025, assured that the Command is committed to raising public awareness about this concerning trend.
She stressed that the police Command encourages everyone to prioritize their safety and maintain heightened sense of security not to be caught napping.
“While only a small fraction of these individuals are located, a significant number regrettably do not return home.
“As a proactive and community-oriented force, the Command is committed to raising public awareness about this concerning trend”, CSP Odutola.
Based on insights from rescued individuals, the Commissioner CP Lanre Ogunlowo in the State urges parents to refrain from using commercial transportation services for their children with unknown strangers.
She further urge “restless youth are encouraged to activate digital communication and sharing features on their mobile devices while traveling, especially during moments of distress”.
