Police officer behind 3-month-old baby’s death at Okija arrested

The Nigeria police have confirmed the arrest of the officer behind the alleged incident that resulted in the death of a three-month old baby at Okija, Anambra State.

 

The police Command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga assured in a statement, that a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident has commenced.

 

He revealed that “the officer involved is currently undergoing interrogation and other administrative procedures in line with the Nigeria Police Force disciplinary processes”.

 

He urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid actions capable of inciting tension, while assuring that no individual found culpable will be shielded from justice.

 

The statement said further developments on the outcome of the investigation will be communicated to the public accordingly.

 

In his condolence message to the bereaved family, the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, assured the public that the Command will remain transparent and professional in handling the issue.
