A suspected armed cultist, two soldiers, and 19 other criminal suspects were caught during a midnight raid carried out by the Nigeria Police at Hillton Hotel, Osiele, under the jurisdiction of Odeda Division, Ogun State.
Police spokesperson in Ogun State Command, said the suspect’s lid was blown open by a joint team of police operatives, stormed the location at about 2020hrs on 25th July.
She revealed that SP Adejoh Israel-led joint a team, comprising operatives from Odeda Division, Aregbe Division, the Anti-Cultism Unit, and SWAT, which was targeted at suspected members of the Aiye confraternity converged at the hotel, did not record any casualty.
The arrested suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Anti-Cultism Unit, Eleweran, for further investigation. No casualties were recorded during the operation.
The Ogun State Police Command remains resolute in its fight against cultism and other violent crimes and urges residents to continue providing useful information to aid ongoing operations.
Part of the statement read, “In the course of the operation, twenty-two (22) suspects were arrested, including two (2) soldiers, nineteen (19) male suspects, and three (3) females”.
The statement also revealed that one cut-to-size locally made gun, one UTC axe, and several blue beret caps associated with the cult group were recovered from the suspects.
The arrested suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Anti-Cultism Unit, Eleweran, for further investigation, according to the statement.
