Operatives of the Nigeria police have arrested 20 suspects behind the alleged murder of Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue State Chapter, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and his aide, Yakubu Isa.
Mohammed, and Yakubu Isa, shot dead by suspected armed herdsmen an ambush on the Okwudu-Ogoli Road in Otukpo Local Government Area of the State, police said.
The spokesperson of the Nigerian police Command in Benue State, DSP Udeme Edet confirmed this on Sunday in a statement.
The suspects, according to the police, were arrested on the night of 27th June, 2026, during a coordinated operation by tactical teams in Otukpo area of the State.
The statement identified the suspects with their ages as Titus Thyodenda, 25, Utibe Sam, 20, Owoicho Ameh, 18, Sunday Useni, 21,
Sunday Ogbanje, 46 and
Daniel Raphael.
Others are Adokole John, 24, Samuel Ogazi, 32, Agbo Daniel, 25, and Onazi James, 30 years, the police spokesperson said in the statement where the Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, commended the tactical teams and investigators for their swift response and professionalism in making these arrests.
He assured members of the public that investigations are ongoing and efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend other persons connected with this criminal act.
CP Nwadiogbu, insisted that the Command remains committed to ensuring that all those found culpable are brought to justice in accordance with the law.
