Police hunt arsonists behind Imo monarch’s palace attack

Police have vowed to arrest and prosecute suspected arsonists behind last weekend attack on Eze Kanu Ikenolu’s palace in Imo State.

Ikenolu, the traditional ruler of Ndia Iche Arondizuogu Community in Ideato North Local Government Area of the State, escaped when hoodlums invaded his palace.

Eze Kanu Ikenolu, and his family members, fled the palace during the attack, which also affected vehicles in his palace, according to reports.

Mr Henry Okoye, spokesman of the Nigeria Police Command, gave the assurance when he confirmed the attack to newsmen.

According to him, “Frantic investigation efforts are on top gear to arrest the culprits and bring them to face the law of the land”.

He revealed that security agents have stepped up surveillance in the area towards apprehending the perpetrators of the crime.

Leadership Newspaper said the attack has created panic among members of the royal family and residents of the Community.

TheNewspad reports that the attack
comes on the heels of a security meeting by Governors across the five States in South Eastern Nigeria.
