Operatives of the Nigeria police Command in Abia State have crackdown on 24 vehicle have been seized while its owners face trial in the ongoing statewide enforcement operation against unregistered vehicles and vehicles bearing obscured, defaced, altered, or unlawfully covered registration number plates.
A breakdown of the
figure in the anti crime sweep indicates that fifteen suspects were arrested for offences connected to the use of unregistered vehicles and tampered or improperly displayed registration plates, while nine cases have been charged to court.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka who confirmed this in a statement, explained that other related cases that are still under investigation will be concluded and diligently prosecuted.
The Commissioner of police in the State, CP Danladi Isa, said the enforcement is aimed denying criminal elements opportunities to exploit vehicle identification loopholes and strengthening public safety, improving crime prevention in the State in compliance with the directive of the Inspector
General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
The police commissioner commended police personnel for the operational discipline of officers involved in the exercise, and assured that there will be no sacred cow in the enforcement exercise.
