The baseless argument, according to the Odionwere of Uhunmwoke Orhuma Ewuare Community, Pa. Ogieva Edomwonyi, seeks to erode their age-long rich cultural identity, including natural boundaries and history that began during the territorial conquest of Oba Ewuare, the first, Centuries in Benin.

Edomwonyi, whose view was also corroborated by another elder in the Community, Pa. Sunny Omoregie Iyoha, also paid tribute to Oba the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare the second whose royal intervention in response to the Community elders’ request in May 2017, warded-off the premature death plagues — associated with Odionwere position, a development that has brought them longevity.

Oghogho Oteleku, clarified that “the community exists as autonomous status, with her Elders Chamber known as Ogua’edion” in Edo Language connotation; “therefore, attempt by any group or an individual to re-write our own history, will not stand”, while pledging their loyalty to Governor Monday Okpebholo and Oba Ewuare, the second.
