Police burst ‘white cap criminal gang in Calabar

Operatives of the Nigeria police Command in Cross River State have burst a notorious ‘white cap criminal gang linked to armed robbery and burglary in Uwanse, Calabar South area of Cross River State.

 

The suspects, known for operating with white caps while attacking homes, were caught following a coordinated operation where stolen household items had also been recovered by police personnel at Uwanse Police station.

 

The hoodlums have been terrorizing residents from 8 Miles down to Calabar South before they were intercepted at Uwanse, according to report.

 

Investigation revealed that the leader, an indigene of Akwa Ibom State, had previously been arrested by Federal Housing Police station.

 

He also however escaped from security custody, according to police sources, under a controversial circumstance.

 

The gang leader, who was rearrested alongside four of his gang members, though he initially escaped alone, will be transferred to the State Headquarters at Diamond Hill on orders of the State governor,

 

TheNewspad reports that the State, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, following the recommendation of the police Command.
