Nigeria Police Command in Edo State has began investigation into the alleged case of adultery involving a Pentecostal church leader simply identified as Pastor Unity and a housewife.
The 11-year-old secret relationship between the Pastor and his female member of church located on church road, off Upper Sokponba, Ikpoba-Okha Local government area of the State, hit the rock on Sunday December 8, 2024 when angry youths invaded the church and desecrated the sanctuary.
The mother of three children, was allegedly caught in a hotel by her brother-in-law, who returned from Europe to Upper Sokponba area, ahead of Christmas, according to sources.
It was leant that the brother-in-law bumped into his brother’s wife booking the same hostel on the fateful day when he allegedly caught the Pastor and his brother’s wife copulating.
The housewife was said to have escaped from the hotel after the returnee called out his brother’s wife, prompting youths in the area to storm the church on Sunday December 8.
Outraged worshippers were stunned when youths invaded the church and allegedly disrupted the church harvest of Ingathering and allegedly destroy the church plastic chairs.
TheNewspad investigation revealed that the Cleric was stripped off his clothes by angry youths who dragged him out of the church after worshippers had fled.
Contacted, the spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Edo State, SP Moses Yamu, side stepped TheNewspad inquiry about ongoing police investigation regarding the alleged crime.
But, police operatives whose attention were called to the scandal, arrested the Cleric and took him away in a Spot Utility Vehicle (SUV) away, according to footages in the Internet.
TheNewspad reports that the church harvest products and other valuables were looted by hoodlums, captured in the recorded footages.
Some youths and women with a maracas and gong, chorus songs in Edo language, depicting mockery while the Cleric who was decked in a green suite during the Cleric parade in the neighborhood.
Family members of the adulterous woman, is said to have compelled the woman to underwent some ritual, ahead of the planned paternity test for the three children she had with her husband.
“His daughters have started giving birth in their husbands’ homes. Do you know how much takes to feed a family or buy diapers?
“Her husband has being taking care of their feeding and footing the medical bills of the children for 11 years unknown to him that the Pastor has been sleeping with his wife”, a source told TheNewspad Reporter.
