Ogun double murder suspects get 60-Day remand order by court

Date:

Three men have been remanded in a correctional facility by a Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, over their alleged involvement in the murder of a retired Broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo.

The accused: Sodeinde Olajuwon Philip, 22, Abduraheem Sakirudeen, 27, and Sobur Obafunso, 30, were arraigned on Monday before Magistrate Court 3, Isabo, Abeokuta.

The defendants are facing allegations in connection with the killing of Oyesiku and Adetayo, which reportedly occurred on June 20, 2026, at Agodo Village in the Kobape area of Abeokuta.

During the proceedings, the prosecution filed an ex parte motion seeking the remand of the suspects pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The court granted the application and ordered that the three defendants be remanded in a correctional facility for 60 days while the DPP issues legal advice on the matter.

The case was subsequently adjourned to September 7, 2026, for further proceedings.

The remand order is expected to enable investigators conclude necessary processes before the matter proceeds in line with applicable legal procedures.
