Obih rejects request to join Edo PDP campaign

Chief Dan Orbih has turned down request to join 200-man Peoples Democratic party Edo State governorship campaign Council for the September 19, 2024 election in the State.

Orbih, the South South Vice Chairman of PDP said he learned of the development on the pages of national Dailies without getting any formal request from the ruling party in the State.

Obih dropped the hint at an interactive session with some party faithful at the weekend in Benin City, the State Capital.

PDP had paired Orbih with a former Deputy Governor of the State, Mike Ogiadhome both from Etsako West Local Government Area of the State in the Council, said, “Nobody told me of any campaign council and I’m not aware of it”.

“Some people who saw my name on the list called me. I have not seen the list and I am not aware of it and not party to the composition of the Council”, he said.

The State governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki is making efforts through the back channel to appease aggrieved members of legacy Group, including a former House of Representatives member who represented Oredo federal Constituency, amid rumours of defection from PDP to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

The Media was awash recently after Omosede Igbinedion, a former House of Representatives member in Ovia federal Constituency visited Hon. Dennis Idahosa, the Edo APC Deputy governorship running mate in the election.

This was after Omosede, (PDP) was oust by Mr Osarodion Ogie, the running mate to Asue Ighodalo in the election.
