The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo has expressed gratitude to Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin for his wise counsel which he said inspired positive reforms in government since the past one year in office.
The Governor who made the disclosure at a ceremony on Wednesday November 12th 2025 to mark his one year anniversary of his administration in Benin City, Edo State, lauded Oba Ewuare for his guidance, leadership and immersed support.
Under Oba Ewuare’s guidance, the Governor revealed that Edo State has blossomed in various sectors of the State’s economy, including security, agriculture, Education, health, infrastructure, and human empowerment.
“To our Royal father, I want to specially thank your for your prayers, the love, and the wonderful advice that you have been giving me to ensure that things work out. Without your support, it would have been very difficult”, according to him.
Okpebholo also lauded President Bola Tinubu for showing visionary leadership and for transforming the nation’s economy to build the dream future for all Nigerians and setting the pace for national development.
The Governor revealed that his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki owed Local contractors before exiting office on November 12th 2025, and left a debt liability of over N600 billion for administration.
He decried lack of transparency in the process and explained that his administration has started paying contractors, noting that his administration has so far awarded 545 kilometres of roads across the State.
“I met a state weighed down by rots in all sectors, debt ( local and Foreign) insecurity, and distrust, but I have since begun restoring public confidence by rebuilding institutions and strengthening governance”, he said.
Various Stakeholders at the special panel session where guests described the Governor as a champion of practical governance for prioritizing the interest of Edo people, listed the gains and prospects of the administration.
