NSCDC crackdown on 7 suspected oil thieves

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have arrested seven suspects in a relentless crackdown on suspected oil thieves in Jahi/Katampe area of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Abuja.

The suspects were nabbed for their alleged involvement in operating seven illegal oil Dumps, according to the NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi.

In a statement issued on Tuesday NSCDC national spokesman, CSC Afolabi Babawale identified all the suspects as Akande Olusola (48), Anas Usman (33), Jonathan Onekutu (45) and Uchenna Kelechi 44-year-old and Chukwuma Solomon (37), Monday Israel (34) as well as Bello (33).

He stated that the operation that led to the arrests was a well coordinated based on credible intelligence tip-off that some alleged vandals are involved in illegal refining of petroleum products.

One (1) white colour truck marked GYA-777XA with three compartments fully loaded with 45,000ltrs of AGO with an unverifiable WayBill seen at the illegal dump alongside Mercedes Benz Short Peddler Truck 1202 model marked FST-425XB and four Short Peddler trucks marked RSH-197ZANSR-27YW were amongst the exhibits recovered by NSCDC personnel.

Some other two others without visible Reg. Number, white Colour DAF CF KSF161XQ, MAN Diesel Short Truck marked KWL-241XA as well as Volkswagen Bus marked RBC-140XF.
