Mourners besiege Mbaise king’s palace after killing by gunmen

Terrified mourners have began to pay tributes at the the Palace of the traditional ruler of Nguru Nweke Aboh Mbaise Community in Mbaise Council Area of Imo State, Eze Nnamdi Durujiaku.

Multiple reports said the royal father, Durujiaku also known as Mirioma, was shot dead by gunmen in his palace while he was receiving a guest at about 3p.m on Monday.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Imo State, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident in a statement said a manhunt is under way for the criminal gang.

The police spokesman in a statement issued on behalf of the Commissioner of police in tbe State, condemned the attack on the traditional ruler who died at Ndubuisi Hospital, Imo State.

The CP has also set up a high-powered investigating team to arrest and make perpetrators of the crime to face the full wrath of the law, the police spokesman said.

“The Commissioner of Police, Imo State, CP Mohammed Ahmed Barde, has condemned in totality the gruesome murder of Eze Mmirioma, and accordingly ordered a manhunt for his killers”, Okoye said.

“A traditional ruler in Aboh Mbaise who died while receiving medical attention at Ndubuisi Hospital after being shot severally in his house today by gunmen has set up a high-powered investigating team to investigate this case and ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law”, Okoye said.

TheNewspad reports that a joint security patrol of the area has intensified after the tragic tragedy, which has heightened fear among residents of the Area.
