Tragedy struck on Saturday when suspected bandits attacked a mining site in Marit village, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, killing an unspecified number of persons.
The spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM), Rwang Tengwong, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust, stated that the attack occurred around 1:00 p.m.
Describing it as a “sad and painful development,” Tengwong noted that two other persons sustained injuries.
”Our people are once again mourning the loss of lives to violence,” he said. “We condemn this attack and call on the security agencies to urgently take steps to protect our communities and prevent further attacks.”
