MC commits sacrilegious goof, addresses Royal personage as ‘Mr’

A Master of Ceremony (MC) has allegedly committed a sacrilegious goof by addressing a Royal Personage, Ooni of Ife, His imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; (Ọjájá II) as “Mr.”

In a spontaneous reaction, the Ooni of Ife, threatened Master of Ceremony with ancestral spirits on Thursday December 14, 2013 at a retreat for the comptroller-general of customs (CG) 2023 conference in Lagos State.

Ogunwusi said, “For the MC that called me ‘Mr Ooni of Ife, I will not propitiate my ancestors so that your prayers can be answered.

“If I should propitiate my ancestors and the spirits in Yoruba land, you are on your own”, he said.

In his goodwill message, the traditional ruler advocated better deal for Lagos State for contributing 7 per cent to Nigeria Customs Revenue.

The themed of the Conference was “Leveraging Data Analytics for Secure and Efficient Trade Facilitation in Customs Operations”.

Delivering his speech, Vice President Kashim Shettima, identified absence of a comprehensive data as one of the causes of inadequate policies.
