A middle-aged man identified as Lakan Sunday behind the beheading of two residents of Usen in Ovia South-West Local Government Area of Edo State has been hacked to death by youths.
The tragedy struck when
Lakan, a suspected drug user, attacked his neighbours identified as Kamilu Abbas and Tasihu Mahamadu with a machete on Monday night after a minor disagreement with them.
Angered by Lekan’s action, youths in the area, mobilized themselves, restrained the alleged murderer and sniffed life out of him in retaliation.
Sources told Daily Flash online that Lekan became violent after allegedly consuming excessive illicit drugs, including a substance locally known as ‘colos’ that triggered the attack.
Five other unidentified persons who are residents of Usen are said to have also injured during the melee, before the intervention of police operatives from Iguobazuwa police Division, alongside local vigilante members known as Gbolaga, intervene in the fracas.
A Divisional police officer in the area, expressed sympathy to the bereaved families, while assuring that justice would be served.
Bodies of the victims of attack had been evacuated by police operatives to morgue.
