A private property developer, Omi-Adio has willfully surrendered himself to police in Ogun State over an ‘unintended fire disaster’ that destroyed his neighbour’s property in Ifalagba Community Development Area, Kila, Orile Ilugun in the State.
Spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Command in Ogun State who disclose this on Monday in a statement, said 33-year-old Yinka Dolamu from the locality who reported the a case of arson to the Odeda Police Division.
The complaint alleged that he was in church when got an emergency phone call from his neighbour (suspect) through a Divisional Crime officet at Orile-Ilugun Police post that his house was ablaze while clearing his site to engulf Dolamu’ofs property about 5:00 p.m. on January 12, 2025.
CSP Odutola revealed that the complainant raced to his house, and on reaching the location, he discovered that the fire had spread from a dried bush near an incomplete building adjacent to his home.
The suspect thereafter surrendered to the station where he was taken into custody, CSP Odutola said,
“Unfortunately, nothing could be salvaged as the house and its contents were completely destroyed”.
The police spokesperson noted that the extent of the damage could not be determined, as the complainant was in a state-of-shock.
She assured that the the case will soon be transferred from the Divisional Crime to the State CID Eleweran in Abeokuta for further investigations.
