Lagos building collapse death toll rises to eight, 26 rescued from rubble

At least eight persons have been confirmed dead and 26 others rescued after a storey building near Alakija Bus Stop on the Lagos–Badagry Expressway in Satellite Town, Lagos, collapsed, Thursday afternoon.

 

A baby girl, is said to be among the eight victims

who have been pulled out from the rubble, and immediately handed over to medical teams for treatment, according to the ongoing Emergency responders who also rescued 26 people from the rubble.

 

Shop owners and other victims may still be trapped beneath the debris, with the heavy duty equipment of emergency responders and security personnel.

 

A heavy duty equipment, including excavators, deployed to aid debris removal and improve access to the site, have

enhanced the job of emergency responders; Even as concerned authorities have appealed to residents to remain calm as emotions run high.
