Kogi police appoint first female PPRO in historic change-of-guard

The Nigeria police Command in Kogi State has announced the appointment of ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat as its new Public Relations officer in a historic change-of-the guard.

CSP William Ovye Aya, the outgoing PPRO, Kogi State Police Command disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

The statement said Aya has been redeployed for another assignment, after 10 years in the saddle as PPRO, Kogi Command, which looks forward to robust working relationship.

ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, an indigene of Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State, was commissioned into the Nigeria Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police on 7th September, 2024.

This was after she completed a five-year training programme at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.

The statement also said Commissioner of Police, in Kogi State, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, welcomes ASP Afusat to her new role and expresses confidence in her abilities to effectively communicate the Command’s activities and initiatives.

The statement said ASP Afusat has undergone relevant professional and leadership training, including a Virtual Assistant Certification Programme, Police Mobile Training at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills, Nasarawa State, and Leadership and Citizenship Training at Shere Hills, Jos.

It added that “prior to her appointment, ASP Afusat served as Officer-in-Charge of the Gender Desk, B Division, Felele, and was previously deployed as the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Kogi State Police Command.
