Asue Ighodalo, Peoples Democratic Party Candidate for the September 21st 2024 governorship election in Edo State has declared that he will approach the Supreme court to recover his mandate if the need arises.

Ighodalo disclosed this on Thursday at Edo PDP stakeholders meeting in Benin City, Edo State where he expressed hope that he and PDP are currently in court of appeal to win the election based on the evidence that was pleaded in court.

He brushed aside his defeat at the State governorship Electoral Petition Tribunal that upheld the declaration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the winner of the election, which was conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He brushed aside his defeat at the State governorship Electoral Petition Tribunal, which upheld the declaration of Senator Monday Okpebholo as the winner of the election, which was conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“Many people want to hear want to hear about the court case. We have gone on appeal. By the grace of God, our lawyers are doing even harder work. I trust them implicitly. And we will present our case at the court of appeal. And if the need be, we will present our case at the Supreme court.

He further recalled how his kinsmen pleaded with him to drop his appeal, challenge the declaration of Governor Monday Okpebholo by INEC hence they both hail from Edo Central Senatorial District.

He also gave thumb up for the doggedness of his party members and supporters for keeping faith with him and his running mate, Osarodion Ogie when APC attempts to beat them to submission for seeking redress in court despite the political risk.

According to him, “Some people said that I should leave him (Okpebholo) alone because he is an Esan man like me. I replied and asked how? So, if an Esan man takes what is mine, I should not challenge him? No!”.

Giving further insight in search of his mandate, Ighodalo stated that some of his witnesses (name withheld) were allegedly bribed to the tune of N30 million and N40 million by actors in the ruling APC not to appear in court and testify for him.

The PDP Candidate said some of his witnesses farmland was burnt by miscreants and threatened by unamed individuals working for the ruling party in the State not to testify for him and PDP in court.

“Let us be strong, God is a just God. Do not be afraid. There are things that are happening that are frightening. Please not not be afraid. Be strong”, Ighodalo assured his supporters.
