Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party for the September 21 Edo State governorship election, Mr Asue Ighodalo has declared that God will be angry with him and his running mate, Mr Osarodion Ogie of they lose the election.
The Candidate who made the remarks on Saturday while addressing voters in Owan East Local Government Area of the State, sued for support to develop the area and sustain the legacy of Governor Godwin Obaseki on the State.
“God wants us to redeem Edo State hence he brought the person (Obaseki) to start the work. God will be angry with me and Osarodion if we don’t win this election and finish the work he (Obaseki) has started. That is what God wants us to do.
We must redeem and salvage our people. Our people must be happy and protected”, he said.
Ighodalo assured food sufficiency and provide security to enable farmers access their farms without any hindrance as well provide infrastructure.
He also sensitized the rural dwellers on how to vote ahead of the election and charged them to defend their votes by preventing undemocratic elements from undermining the process at the poll.
“We should not allow those who do not mean well for us to undermine the election process. Our people must have food to eat. Our people must have money in their pockets.
Addressing voters at the campaign ground, Governor Godwin Obaseki, highlighted the achievements of his administration over the past seven years in office and urged the people to vote PDP on September 21 governorship election.
He described Mr Osarodion Ogie and Mr Asue Mr Ighodalo as dedicated and selfless personalities who worked hard to earn their wages and can defend the source of their income.
He noted that the PDP Candidate for the election, didn’t ask for payment at the time Edo State government hired him to chair Edo State economic team in 2016 when he was elected Governor.
“Ighodalo will be the next Governor. Do you know God has accepted him? Because you have said so. He is a hardworking man. He is not a thief. And he went to one of the best schools”, according to Obaseki.
He said, “He Ighodalo didn’t ask for money. He followed me when I was elected a Governor in 2016 to do the work I did for Adams Oshiomhole in 2007. He said he will do it. He was chairman of Alaghodaro. He is progress”, he said.
The Governor explained that Edo State has recorded several milestones under his administration, notably among them are the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin City and some other mini stadia that were built in some Local Government Areas of the State.
