Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has lampooned the Senator representing FCT, Senator Ireti Kingibe, insisting that he doesn’t want to be her friend.
Recently, the attention seeking Senator Kingibe reportedly launched a vile press criticisms against Wike, accusing him of running the FCT administration like a private business.
Speaking at a Media parley in Abuja, ahead of the May 29th 2024, marking one the year anniversary of President Bola Tinubu, Wike said
he lacks the capacity to carry the Senator along.
The former Governor of Rivers State, attributed Senator Kingibe’s hatred for him to the refusal by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio to name the Senator Kingibe chairman Senate Committee on FCT.
Wike also said he can never be intimidated by the Senator, clarifying that his loyalty is to President Bola Tinubu who appointed him to assist him to fulfill his renewed hope agenda in Nigeria.
According to the FCT Minister, “The problem is that she (Senator Ireti Kingibe) wanted to be the Chairman, Senate Committee on FCT. And the Senate President said, I’m not going to appoint you”.
The Minister said, “Look, nobody can intimidate me. I was a Minister before I became a Governor of one of the most important States in Nigeria. Now, I am the Minister of FCT.
“The only way you can bring me down is to go to television stations? Oh she said the Minister does not carry me along.
“But, I don’t have the back to carry you. Every is busy commending what is going on in FCT, and you are busy saying that he is not carrying you along.
“You (Senator Ireti Kingibe) can carryout your oversight in terms of lawmaking, but, I am the eye of FCT, in terms of Mr President’s renewed hope agenda, is me.
“I am not here to ask her to supervise me. What she can do is oversight function”, Wike said.
