Group: Ize-Iyamu’s APC ticket not political, but cultural survival of Benin

Date:

A socio-cultural Organization, Aiguobasinmwin Movement, says the support towards Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a leading Edo South Senatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in 2027 general elections, is beyond political, but a question of identity, cultural survival, progress of Benin and self-determination within the Nigerian federation.

In a joint statement, President of the group, Iyamu Osaro Culture alongside the Diaspora Coordinator of Aiguobasiwmin Movement, Monday Ohuimumwen and others, said on Saturday, insisted that the people of Edo South Senatorial District “must choose its own Senator come 2027 has reawakened the vast majority of Benin sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora”, despite underhand tactics by maverick politicians.

The Civic advocacy group said, “For emphasis, Edo South deserves a Senator who understands our rich culture, traditions, interests and aspirations, who can speak for us, advance the course of our people, and defend the great Benin Kingdom without compromise in Abuja.

“This is no longer a political matter, but a question of identity, cultural survival, progress and self-determination within the Nigerian federation.

“We are not spectators in 2027. We are stakeholders.

“Just to reiterate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu represent a broader interest of Benin Nation and her people and we are with in this journey to liberate us at the level of National Assembly”, according to the group.
