Gospel singer petitions IGP for defamation

Popular Nigerian gospel Singer, Nathaniel Bassey has petitioned the Inspection-General of Police over alleged defamation by online trolls who accused him of been the father of Mercy Chinwo’s Son.

The development comes barely five days after another gospel Nigerian singer, Mercy Chinwo’s son photographs had with her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa on social Media, first time after the child’s birth.

Photographs of the Cleric with his wife and daughter, caused online buzz, with some comments that suggest to be a direct attack on Nathaniel, who is yet-to- tie the knot due to the striking resemblance with the baby, a claim thenewspad.com cannot verify.

A Facebook user, Menye Favor wrote: “The baby has a striking remembrance with Nathaniel Bassey”, a popular Nigerian gospel singer,

But, Milez Irmiya, penned her goodwill message this: “The baby is handsome child”, praying that he “grow up in God fear and good health”.

On her part, Princess Happiness wrote: “Finally we’ve seen the cute baby’s face”. Similarly, Jerome Ajereboh wrote: “So As holy as they are ,they dey knack eh, congratulations to them”.

Confidence, ‘Wonder, ‘You Do This One’, and ‘Hollow’ tracks in addition to other songs and video Chinwo featured along with other singers, took Mercy around the world.

In a Facebook post, Maria Ude Nwachi on Wednesday March 3rd 2024, wrote: Mercy Obidake who allegedly initiated the DNA saga had “tendered an apology and reportedly deleted his Facebook account”.
