The Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole says he is not perturbed by negative comments against him for reconciling with Philip Shaibu, challenging his critics to “go and be crying” if they wish.
Shaibu, the reinstated Deputy State Governor, dumped Peoples Democratic Party and returned to APC after fierce political battles that led to his impeachment by the State House of Assembly months ago.
Oshiomhole said this at the Edo State governorship campaign of the All Progressives Congress at Jattu, Etsako West Local Government Area of the State.
Speaking at the rally, Oshiomhole, said he has forgave Shaibu his trespasses against him after his mother, Alhaja Ashetu Oshiomhole begged him to put behind the past, noting that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the State has nothing to offer.
The two-term former Governor appealed to voters in the locality to vote Candidate of APC in the forthcoming election, Senator Monday Okpebholo, assuring that he would prioritize their welfare and develop the area, ahead of the September 21st Edo State governorship election.
He also berated Governor of the State, Godwin Obaseki for hiring Consultants outside the State to execute contracts in Edo State at the detriment of skilled workers and indigenous Contractors in Edo State, a development he alleged Okpebholo will reverse if elected.
The former labour leader, wondered why Governor Godwin Obaseki has been unable to translate the achievements on paper to physical development in the State, which he claimed receives about N16 billion share from the Federation Allocation Account Committee (FAAC) and other sources monthly.
Oshiomhole said, “When I told you that we are not going to Abuja to be sleeping. People say Okpebholo doesn’t talk. Monday Okpebholo knows what to say and how to say it. Everything is calculated.
“We do not need MoU Governor, but we know how to get the job done. Those who thought we will not reconcile should go and be crying. I have told my mother that I have forgiven him (Shaibu).
“The past is past. So, I am going to give him the microphone to talk. This one is the authentic Deputy Governor of Edo State”, Oshiomhole said.
Addressing party faithful at the rally, Mr Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of Niger Delta Development, charged Edo voters to collect gifts and financial incentives from the PDP and vote APC at the poll.
According to him, “If they (PDP) give you money, accept it. It’s our money. Accept the money from PDP and vote for APC”.
