Fulani herder amputates teenager’s hand in Edo

A yet-to-be identified Fulani Cattle herder has allegedly attacked and amputated a teenager’s hand with a machete, after ordering violent herdsmen to take their Cattle away from his backyard in Edo State.

The incident happened last Sunday at about 6p.m in Ekhoe’niro village, Uhunmwode Local Government Area of the State, TheNewspad reports.

21-year-old boy who is currently receiving medical attention at a medical facility, said after his mother heard him screaming for help and raised the alarm, his attackers left him in the pool of his own blood and fled the scene.

He also alleged that the Nigeria Police have neither visited the crime scene not arrest the culprits after the case was reported to a Police Division in the area.

Oghenetega, appealed to the State government, security agencies, members of Civil Society Organizations, the
Media to help save his life and ensure that justice is timely served.

He explained that trouble started when he accosted one of the herders having notice strange persons in his parents house,.one of the herders from nowhere suddenly pulled out his machete and attacked him.

The unarmed teenager alleged that while his attacker was trying to cut off his neck, he quickly blocked him with one of his hands, which was brought down.

Consequently, his mother who heard his cry, wept profusely, saying “Make una come. They have killed my son”, according to him.

He said, “We were at home between 6-6:30p.m on Sunday, I was talking to one of the Fulani herdsmen to remove there Cows from our backyard.

“I didn’t know, when one of them came from behind and cut my hand off with his cutlass. My mother rushed out and started shouting, they have killed my son. The Fulani herdsmen started running.

“People in the Community took my hand as evidence to the Police station as evidence to show to them about what happened. Up till today, Police are yet to come to my aid in hospital or arrest them (culprits).

“So, I need government assistance to get out of this problem”, the son of peasant farmers said.

Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Command in Edo State, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident, but promised to get details on police investigation.
