Four suspected cultists caught in armed robbery

Operatives of the Nigeria police in Ogun State Command have arrested four amongst six suspected cultists for armed robbery at the weekend in the State.

 

A statement by the Command’s spokesman,

DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said on Monday that the hoodlums, stormed a residence, where they assaulted a man and robbed him of his mobile phone, an iPhone 14 Pro Max, after threatening to kill with an axe.

 

Following a report lodged at the station by a Nigerian, led to the arrest of the suspects, identified as Samson John ‘M’ aged 25; Olufowora Michael ‘M’ aged 28; Odeh Samuel Ejeh ‘M’ aged 25; and Olajide Jeremiah ‘M’ aged 28, by the police.

 

The complainant had informed police at the station at about 11:30p.m 16th April 2026, that on the same day at about 1p.m, Samson John ‘M’, in the company of six other individuals, stormed his residence, assaulted him, threatened him with an axe, and robbed him of his mobile phone, an iPhone 14 Pro Max.

 

“Upon swift response and subsequent investigation by the operatives, the suspects were apprehended”, police said during the operation, a “locally made pistol, an axe, charms, and the stolen iPhone 14 Pro Max were recovered from them”.

 

The suspects are currently in police custody, police said while efforts are ongoing to apprehend two fleeing members of the gang.

 

In the meantime, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

 

The Commissioner, commended the operatives for their prompt response and professionalism.

 

He reiterated the Command’s zero tolerance for cultism and other violent crimes, assuring residents that all criminal elements will be decisively dealt with.
