Energy theft: Electrician escapes arrest after market women’s alarm

A roadside electrician narrowly escaped arrest and prosecution by security agents at Oba market last weekend in Oredo Local government Area of Edo State, amid pandemonium.

The artisan, identified as ‘Bullet’, accused him of tempering with the electricity installations at the market, took to his heels after some of market women raised the alarm that Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Task force were after him.

The source said the electrician was engaged by some traders at the market to carryout a minor repair at the market.

This followed alleged failure by the company to effect repair on their installations, responsible for the epileptic power supply in the area for the last few weeks.
