Eight Ogun highway armed robbery suspects caught with 900 bags of cement, firearms

Eight robbery suspects have been arrested by men of the Nigeria Police Command along the Papalanto–Ilaro and Owode–Idiroko axis of the State, with 900 bags of cement and firearms.

Spokesman of the Nigeria Police Command in the State, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said in a statement that suspected members of the syndicate responsible for violent attacks and the hijacking of heavy duty trucks with goods.

All the suspects identified as Mogaji Sodiq also known “Ogbonṣ”, Adebowale Lekan, Ajah Peter, and Ganiyu Razaq at different locations across the State based on actionable intelligence.

The statement listed other arrested suspects to include Odeleye Ayoola, Egboja Amos, Bello Akeem, and Olaifa Sunday.

A locally made single-barrel pistol from the suspects who were intercepted after conveying the trailer truck, with most of the stolen cement having been taken to a warehouse, which was tracked and recovered first by operatives.

“Intelligence is currently being exploited to track, locate, and apprehend other fleeing members, while further investigations continue to dismantle their wider criminal network and identify accomplices and logistics channels.

“The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, reiterates the Command’s unwavering commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and the protection of lives and property in the State, according to the appear.

It also appealed members of the public are encouraged to report any suspicious activities or security concerns through the State Police Command’s designated mobile telephone lines.
