Edo rider drowns rescuing motorcycle from flood

A motorcycle rider got drawn when a torrent of flood water on Tuesday evening surged through parts of Edo State.

The tragedy struck near Zekor Hotel on Uwenlenbo Road, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of the State.

Two other motorcycle riders who were caught in the fatal web, survived the sever storm, following the prompt intervention by concerned citizens.

But, the rider got drowned while clinging to rescue his motorcycle marked Delta: AGB 130WL to escape the traumatic flood.

Braved residents of the area, pulled the yet-to-be named victim’s motorcycle from the raging flood.

The incident has caused panic amongst community leaders who have deployed a search party to locate the whereabouts of the victim.

In an interview, the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Paul Ohonbamu, has attributed the delay in road construction to adverse weather condition in Nigeria.

He assured that construction of drainages and road maintenance would commerce as soon as the rain subsides.
