Edo housewife hacked to death separating fight

Tragedy struck when housewife, Mrs Nata Igbinovia hacked to death by her neighbours while separating a fight between her nephew and her neighbours, following a heated argument at her Okpagha residence, Uhunmwode Local Government Council Area of Edo State.

The victim was allegedly stabbed to death multiple times by two of her male neighbours whose identities are yet-to-be revealed, last Saturday April 27, night.

Miss Patience — a teenage daughter of the victim who is survived by four Children and her husband who lives abroad, alleged that her mother was confirmed dead at undisclosed hospital where she was taken to for urgent Medical attention after the tragic incident.

Upon sensing danger, after attacking the victim with a dagger and axe, according to her, the murder suspects — (father and son), escaped before the arrival of sympathizers who later converged on the deceased residence.

The terrified daughter who simply identified herself as Patience, alleged that, “The main suspect (father) stabbed my mother the first time during an argument.

According to her, “As the murder suspect (father) brought a dagger (knife), his son ran inside and took an axe. While he (father) was attempting to stab my nephew, my mother quickly blocked the attack and she got injured in the process.

“Immediately, my mother fell on the ground near their gate in the compound. Suddenly, her neighbour’s son, took an axe and hit it on my mother’s back”, according to her.

Patience who wept profusely, also alleged that while her neighbour (father), quickly used the knife he was holding to rip off her ribs before a Samaritan who learned of the neighbourhood, quickly brought a vehicle and tooky mother to hospital where she was confirmed died”.

A visibly angry relative of the victim, Mr Benjamin Obasuyi who also confirmed the tragedy, said he was contacted on phone late Saturday by a family relative that his sister had been attacked by her neighbours.

He also alleged that he could not come to the crime scene on Saturday night because it wasn’t convenient to access the area.

Obasuyi said to his dismay, he was told his sister (Mrs Igbinovia) has been murdered by her neighbours, with a knife, taken to hospital and kept in a morgue.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Nigeria police, Eyaen Division have visited the crime scene and
had begun investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Police Authorities are yet comment on the incident which has heightened tension in the area as at the time of this report.
