The Medical Director of Suyi Hospital in Benin City, Edo State Capital, Dr Nosa Ekunwe, has reportedly slumped and died off duty.
The tragedy struck at a political party meeting last Monday in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the State.
A member of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA confirmed the incident in a post on Facebook.
The demise of the private practitioner at the hospital facility, on Murtala Mohammed Way, sent jitters down the spines of his family, associates and friends.
Efforts to revive Ekunwe, who was a renowned mortician and a specialist in surgical procedure for women, were unsuccessful.
The absence of first treatment was said to have compounded the health emergency, thereby causing a temporarily setback at the enlarged meeting.
TheNewspad investigation revealed that the diseased was taken to his hospital morgue, hours after the incident in a motorcade.
