Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested the Edo State Attorney General, Oluwole Osaze-Uzzi (SAN).
He was arrested and detained with two other top government officials who have been on the watchlist of EFCC for alleged graft against the suspects who have made useful statements with the Commission.
Neither the EFCC nor the State government is yet to react or confirm the report.
But sources said the suspects were called in for briefing when they were arrested and detained at the EFCC Benin Zonal office.
A dependable source said, “It’s true. But three persons, not 5 were arrested. AG and 2
others. But nobody wants to talk officially”.
TheNewspad reports that incident, which occurred few days to the handover of power by Governor Godwin Obaseki to Senator Monday Okpebholo, has heightened tension in Government House.
On Thursday, the national Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, advised the Edo State Governor-elect, Okpebholo not to yield to pressure to probe Obaseki to avoid distraction.
