Edo 2024: Why I want to complete my mission — Osunbor at 72

72-year-old Law Professor, Oserheimen Osunbor, All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant in the September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State, has solicited for support to enable him return and complete his tenure as governor of the State.

Osunbor made the appeal in Oba of Benin Palace in Benin City, the State Capital where he stated that he possesses the competence, capacity and energy to contribute his quota towards the development of the State if given the opportunity.

“As your Royal Majesty knows very well, I was Governor before, but the mission was uncompleted. So, it’s my desire to come back, complete the mission and contribute to assist you in my own way in developing our own State”, Osunbor while reeling out his academic exploits.

According to him, “So, I believe considering who can at least help Edo State some of these qualities that I have will be something that people would consider and say this is the man we think should get the ticket.

“He (Osunbor) has done it before. He has the competence, the capacity and energy to be able to govern Edo State”, Osunbor said.

Osunbor who defected from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC further noted that he has hearken to the clamour by Edo people to embark on the governorship race in appreciation for his goodwill in office, which he claimed cuts across the State.

He particularly thanked Oba Ewuare II, for according a delegation of traditional rulers from his Area — Edo Central Senatorial District, clamouring for power shift from other Senatorial District to Esanland, the honour.

Responding, His Royal Majesty, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin, CFR, stated that Benin Kingdom is a father to all aspirants seeking elective positions and will remain nonpartisan.

He however said the Palace will continue to pray to God and his ancestors continually keep and preserve Nigeria at large for the overall wellbeing of Nigerians.

Recall that he was PDP Candidate in Edo State governorship election, but his tenure was nullified on November 11, 2008 after 18 months in office by a court, which declared Adams Adams Oshiomhole, Candidate of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) winner, for securing majority of the lawful votes case in the poll.
