Edo 2024: APC financier joins race to succeed Obaseki

One of the financiers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, Joe Ikpea, has joined the 2024 Edo State governorship race to succeed governor Godwin Obaseki.

The governorship aspirant made a visit to the Secretariat of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council on Monday.

He said he should be considered for the job being a foundation member and major financier of the party in the state, he should be compensated with the party governorship ticket, citing his labour for the party, over the years.

Ikpea recalled how APC aspirants seeking to contest the election were invited for a meeting in Abuja where they were asked to provide proof of their membership of the party.

He said, “I should be the person to be considered. If you look at the history of the party, I am one of the founding members, and not just founding member, but one of the financiers of the party.

“Like I said earlier, the party can do whatsoever they wish. But I believe in God, I am going to push my course and leave the rest for God”, he said.

Ikpea who hails from Edo Central Senatorial district in the State, also promise to make positive impact and address infrastructural decay, unemployment and other challenges in the State if he is given his party ticket and win the September 21 governorship poll.
