EasyJet suspends drunk pilot at luxury hotel

Date:

The Management of EadtJet airline has suspended one of its captains amid claims that he wandered naked around luxury hotel.

As reportedly by UK Guardian, the yet to be named pilot, removed all his clothes and walked into reception area of Cape Verde hotel after drinking session.

He was caught in a Close Circuit Camera, CCTV walking through common areas of a five-star resort in Cape Verde in the early hours of 5 August, 2025 after a lengthy drinking session at a bar around a hotel.

A spokesman of EasyJet told the BBC the captain has been suspended and is now under investigation, stressing that the safety of passengers and crew is its “highest priority”.

He was scheduled to operate a return flight to Gatwick more than 36 hours later, but was grounded after the airline received complaints about the incident and assigned a replacement pilot.

Multiple reports said the pilot had checked into the Melia Dunas Beach Resort and Spa on 4 August. Later that night, at about 02:30 local time (04:30 BST), he was allegedly seen by hotel guests removing his clothes in the reception area before heading to the gym and spa.

“Anyone who saw the pilot cavorting naked in the early hours on the day before a flight would not dream of getting on a plane with him at the controls”.

The pilot was meant to command 2,332-nautical-mile (4,318km) flight back to Gatwick on the afternoon of 6 August but was removed from duty, according to report.

“As soon as we were made aware, the pilot was immediately stood down from duty, in line with our procedures, pending an investigation,” the EasyJet spokesman said, “The safety of our passengers and crew is EasyJet’s highest priority”.
