Distribution company react to power cut in Anambra govt house

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) has offered explanation on the power cut that has affected the Anambra State government house, Awka Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

The recent outage was caused by a midnight inferno that affected the transmission company of Nigeria (TCN) station and plunged some public infrastructure into darkness.

Mr Emeka Ezeh, Head Corporate Communications, EEC said in a statement, said the loss of supply currently being experienced in some parts of the State was as a result of a fire outbreak at the Agu-Awka TCN station.

The affected areas, according to the statement, include: UniZik, Bryan, Juhel, Millennium areas, Umuayom, Umunnoke, Umuoranma, Umuokpu, Amachala, Abagana, Umudiaba, Agbana, Amudo, Enu-Ifite.

Other areas affected by power interruption as Ezinato- Ifite, Abagana-Ifite, GRA, Agu Awka, back of UniZik Hostel on Amansea Ifite road, Egbeagu, Umuokpara, Orede, Holy Family, Ebenebe, Ugbenu, Ugbene, Orba Ofemmiri, and other environs are out of electricity supply.

The EEC spokesman, assured esteemed Customers of EEC in Anambra State that power will be restored.

He said, “EEDC wishes to inform her esteemed customers in Anambra State that the loss of supply currently being experienced in some parts of the state is a result of a fire outbreak at the Agu-Awka TCN station.

“The incident which occurred at 12:10am of 6th April 2023, resulted in the loss of supply in Agu-Awka Injection Substation, disrupting supply to all our 11KV outgoing feeders: UNIZIK 11KV, Awka Industrial 11KV, Ifite 11KV, and Amansea 11KV.

“The TCN engineers are already at work and we are on standby to restore supply as soon as the fault is addressed”, Ezeh said.
