CP sets up taskforce against personnel misconduct

The Nigeria Police Command in Abia State has set up monitoring team to monitor the misconduct of personnel in the Command, arising from complaints from members of the public.

SP Maureen Chiamaka conveyed the decision by the Commissioner of Police in Abia, CP Danladi Isa in a statement late Thursday.

On Thursday’s strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Team Commanders was at the Officers’ Mess.

SP Chiamaka said the CP emphasized the importance of officers being proactive and vigilant in ensuring the implementation of security strategies during this Yuletide season.

The statement said CP stressed the need to prioritize the safety of residents before, during, and after the festivities.

During the meeting, CP Isa, issued a stern warning against unprofessional conduct, including extortion and incivility toward members of the public.

He clarified that a Special Monitoring Team has been established to oversee and evaluate the activities of officers on duty.

“This team will apprehend any officer who engages in misconduct or tarnishes the image of the Command”, he said.

The meeting, according to the police spokesperson, also provided an opportunity for meaningful contributions and suggestions from officers, focusing on accountability, proper supervision of officers, and improved methods to ensure the safety and security of the State.
