Court issues bench warrant against Nigerian politician listed in porn messaging scandal

A Federal High court sitting in Benin has issued a bench warrant against a Nigerian politician, Charles Amadasun listed in alleged pornographic content circulation, for defaulting to appear first and second consecutive times in court of law.

The presiding judge, Justice Babatunde Olaide Quadri issued the
bench warrant on Thursday January 22, 2026.

At resumed hearing, the Prosecutor, Mr. P. O. Odion, informed the court that the accused, Charles Amadasun, who was absent for the second time when the FHC/B/78c 2025 suit bothering on allegations of cyberstalking against the PDP Senatorial aspirant in Edo South in 2023, was mentioned on the court’ cause.

59-year-old defendant, is accused of sending unauthorized pornographic video and pictorial content to a victim via computer network on June 11, 2025, with intent to bully or threaten, an offence punishable under Section 24(1) (a) and Section 2(a) of Nigeria Cybercrime (Prohibition Prevention etc.) Act 2015, (As amended) in 2024.

At the previous court sitting on September 24, 2025, the case was also delayed because the defendant was absent. At that time, the court was informed that his absence was due to hospitalization.

The judge adjourned to March 2, 2026 after listening to the submission of the Prosecutor, Mr. P. Odion, who informed the court that the Prosecution is ready to proceed with the case as the court pleases.
