Nyesom Wike, the minister of Federal Capital Territory, has asked political parties fielding Candidates in September 21, 2024, Edo State governorship poll to ‘carry their cross’.
Dr. Asue Ighodalo, Candidate of Peoples Democratic party, Senator Monday Okpebholo, All Progressives Congress Candidate, while Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata of Labour party are among the contestants in the forthcoming poll.
Speaking at a Media parley on satellite television stations, Thursday, Wike said stated that he has decided to take a break and concentrate on his assignment in FCT, which President Bola Tinubu appointed him.
The former governor of Rivers State, said he is still a member of PDP, referencing that the outgoing Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki he supported to return for a 2nd term in office in 2020, disappointed him.
“I am PDP member. What happened to the one I supported before?, according to Wike, “I have decided to take a break for now. Everybody should carry their cross”.
The staunch supporter of PDP Legacy group in Edo State, said though his still a member of PDP, but, his mandate is to ensure that President deliver on his hope agenda to Nigerians.
The FCT Minister expressed regret that he no longer have executive powers to exercise as he would have love to when he was Governor of Rivers in getting things done without delay.
TheNewspad reports that prior to his appointment as FCT Minister, Wike was the leader of the G5 former Governors otherwise known as integrity group, comprising Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, ex-Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu (former Abia) and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (former Governor of Enugu) States.
