CAC threatens to shut down unregistered PoS

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has threatened to shut down all Point-of-Sale (PoS) that failed to register with the Commission across Nigeria.

The followed the September 5th deadline for business registration after the Commission previously shifted July 7th deadline via a circular.

CAC threat is contained in a contained in a public notice issued on Friday September 6th 2024, urging strict compliance with its directive.

It also stated that the move is against the backdrop of fraudulent transaction incidents involving PoS terminals and Cryptocurrency trading regulations/ guidelines by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
