There was confusion in Nekpekpen street, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State last Friday afternoon when a grand mother, identified as ‘Mama Osamuyi’ was allegedly brutalized while separating a fight between his grand son and a tenant’s lover.
It was gathered that a disagreement that ensued between her grand son known as Marvelous and a mistress in clashed in the victim’s house where the street brawl erupted.
TheNewspad reports that the grand mother’s was injured after trying to break up the fight after Marvelous blow missed his target and split her forehead open.
It was gathered that the victim whose husband was not at home during the incident, became unconscious when blood gushed down her face.
Thereafter, Mama Osamuyi was taken to a private hospital near the Nigeria Police Micro Finance Bank on Sapele road in Benin City.
Expressing her anger, a tenant in the neighbourhood, said the attack on the elderly woman as shocking and a taboo.
She said, “Osamuyi is calm. He has not been known as a violent person. He has apologized to his grand mother and elders in the area who have also warned him against such act in future”.
“We were scared when Iye (Mummy) fell after the Marvelous blow missed target and hit her. Mama Osamuyi began to bleed in her forehead.
“A chemist around the area when she was initially taken to could not handle her health condition. Her family members had to rush her to hospital. We just thank God that Iye didn’t die”, she said.
A medical worker at the health said the survivor’s health has been stabilized, but insisted that she is still under medical observation.
It was learnt that family members of the injured grand mother have yet to lodge the complaint to the Nigeria Police as at the time of filing this report.
Six months ago, a member of Edo State Security Network, had punched a blind man’s wife identified as Mrs Mamuyonvre Iyamu to death while separating a fight between his son, Chibobo who is a welder.
The tragedy happened during debt recovery exercise in Bamawo street, about 2 kilometers away from Mama Osamuyi’s home in Nekpeneken street.
Two suspects in connection with the fatal attack had been arrested by the police for alleged conspiracy and remanded in Court. This was after the prime suspect linked to the alleged murder, fled his home ahead of Mamuyonvre funeral.
