Benue Miyetti Allah leader killed in ambush after security meeting

The Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue State chapter, Ardo Rabo Mohammed, has been killed by suspected armed herdsmen in an ambush along the Okwudu-Ogoli Road in Otukpo Local Government Area of the state.

 

Mohammed was reportedly attacked alongside one Yakubu Isa while returning from a security meeting on Friday. Both of them died in the attack.

 

Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Friday, the Benue State Police Command condemned the killings, describing them as a senseless and criminal act capable of undermining ongoing peace and security efforts in the state.

 

The statement, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, said the command had launched a full-scale investigation into the incident.

 

According to the statement, tactical and intelligence teams have been deployed to identify, apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the attack.

 

The Commissioner of Police, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and all those affected by the incident, assuring that the command would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

 

“The command sees this unfortunate incident as a senseless and criminal act that is capable of undermining the peace and security efforts currently being sustained across the state,” the statement read.

 

The police urged residents to remain calm, law-abiding and avoid taking the law into their own hands or spreading unverified information that could heighten tensions.

 

The command also appealed to members of the public with credible information that could aid the investigation to report to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines.
